

The University of Connecticut (UConn) is a public (public university) research university in the U.S. state of Connecticut. Founded in 1881 as a land-grant university, UConn serves more than 28,000 students on its six campuses, including nearly 8,000 graduate students in multiple programs.
UConns main campus is in Storrs (Storrs, Connecticut), Town of Mansfield (Mansfield, Connecticut). The universitys president is Dr. Michael J. Hogan (Michael Hogan (academic)), noted historian and former provost (Provost (education)) of the University of Iowa.
Considered a Public Ivy by higher education specialists, UConn is one of the founding institutions of the Hartford (Hartford, Connecticut), Connecticut/Springfield (Springfield, Massachusetts), Massachusetts regional economic and cultural partnership alliance known as New Englands Knowledge Corridor. It is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. UConn is a member of the Big East Conference.
