The Young Victoria is a 2009 film based around the accession to the throne and early reign of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, and her marriage to Prince Albert (Albert, Prince Consort). The film is directed by Jean-Marc Vall�e, written by Julian Fellowes , and stars Emily Blunt, Rupert Friend, Miranda Richardson, and Jim Broadbent. It is produced by Graham King, Martin Scorsese, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Tim Headington. The world premiere was held at the Electric Palace in Bridport, Dorset in South West England, United Kingdom. It was released in limited markets in the US on #dateformat:December 18, 2009. The film won the awards for the Best Make-Up and Best Costume Design at the 2010 BAFTAs, and made its way to winning an Academy Award for Best Costume Design.
