The String Cheese Incident (SCI) is a jam band from Crested Butte and Telluride (Telluride, Colorado), Colorado formed in 1993. The band is composed of Michael Kang (Michael Kang (musician)) (acoustic/electric mandolin, electric guitar, and violin), Michael Travis (drums (Drum kit) and percussion (percussion instrument)), Bill Nershi (acoustic guitar (Steel-string guitar), lap steel guitar, and electric slide guitar), Kyle Hollingsworth (piano, organ (organ (music)), Rhodes (Rhodes piano), and accordion), and Keith Moseley (bass guitar), and, in 2006, Jason Hann, an auxiliary percussionist. The origins of the bands name is unknown.

Their music has elements of bluegrass (bluegrass music) sounds, as well as rock (rock and roll), calypso (calypso music), country (country music), funk, jazz, Latin (Latin American music), reggae, and occasional psychedelia (psychedelic rock). All members write original compositions and share vocal duties on their songs and covers (cover versions) as well as their own songs. Nershi has written the bulk groups originals. After leaving the band in 2007, he rejoined them at the Rothbury Music Festival, and is confirmed to play shows with the band in the summer of 2010.
