Southern Methodist University (SMU) is a private (private university), coeducational university in University Park (University Park, Texas), Texas (an enclave (enclave and exclave) of Dallas (Dallas, Texas)). Founded in 1911 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, SMU currently operates campuses in University Park, Plano (Plano, Texas), and Taos, New Mexico.
