Shigeru Miyamoto?? ?Miyamoto Shigeru (born November 16, 1952 in Sonobe (Sonobe, Kyoto), Kyoto, Japan) is a Japanese (Japanese people) video game designer (game designer) and producer (Video game producer). Miyamoto was born and raised in the Kyoto Prefecture; the natural surroundings of Kyoto inspired much of Miyamotos later work. He is mainly known for his work at the video game production company Nintendo, where he created some of the most successful video game franchises of all time, including Mario (Mario (series)), Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong (series)), The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox (Star Fox (series)), Animal Crossing, Pikmin (Pikmin (series)), and F-Zero (F-Zero (series)). He currently manages the Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development branch, which handles many of Nintendos top-selling titles. Miyamotos games have been seen on every Nintendo video game console, with his earliest work appearing on arcade machines (Video game arcade cabinet). His games have received critical praise from many reviewers, and he has been the recipient of various awards. Miyamoto is married and has two children.
