William Scott "Scotty" Bowman (born September 18, 1933) is a retired National Hockey League head coach. He holds the record for most wins in league history, with 1,244 wins in the regular season and 223 in the Stanley Cup playoffs. He coached the St. Louis Blues (St. Louis Blues (ice hockey)), Montreal Canadiens, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Detroit Red Wings. He is currently the Senior Advisor of Hockey Operations for the Chicago Blackhawks.

As head coach, Bowman has won a record nine Stanley Cups with the Canadiens (1973 (1973 Stanley Cup Finals), 1976 (1976 Stanley Cup Finals), 1977 (1977 Stanley Cup Finals), 1978 (1978 Stanley Cup Finals), and 1979 (1979 Stanley Cup Finals)), Penguins (1992 (1992 Stanley Cup Finals)) and Red Wings (1997 (1997 Stanley Cup Finals), 1998 (1998 Stanley Cup Finals), and 2002 (2002 Stanley Cup Finals)). He has also won three Stanley Cups as a member of an organizations front office. He was director of player development for the 1991 (1991 Stanley Cup Finals) Penguins, Consultant with the 2008 (2008 Stanley Cup Finals) Detroit Red Wings, and Senior Advisor of Hockey Operations for the 2010 (2010 Stanley Cup Finals) Chicago Blackhawks. Bowman won the Jack Adams Award in 1977 (1976-77 NHL season) and 1996 (1995-96 NHL season). In the 1976-77 season he won a record 60 games and broke his own record with 62 wins in 1995-96 (1995-96 NHL season). Bowman is the only head coach in the history of the NHL, Major League Baseball, the National Football League, or the National Basketball Association who has won championships with three different teams.
