Roberto Mancini (born 27 November 1964 in Jesi, Ancona (province of Ancona)) is an Italian (Italy) football (football (soccer)) manager (manager (football)), former player and current manager of English Premier League team Manchester City (Manchester City F.C.) since December 2009.

As a player he was best known for his time at Sampdoria (U.C. Sampdoria), where he played more than 550 league matches, and helped them win the Serie A league title and the Cup Winners Cup, whilst being capped 36 times by Italy.

Following the end of his accomplished playing career he moved into management with a cash stricken Fiorentina (ACF Fiorentina) at only 36 and managed to win a Coppa Italia trophy. He left with Fiorentina sliding towards bankruptcy and managed Lazio (S.S. Lazio) a few months later, where again, he inherited financial constraints but still managed to win another Coppa Italia and also secured a lucrative Champions League place.

However, his best management spell came at Internazionale (F.C. Internazionale Milano) where he won an Inter club record 3 consecutive Serie A titles, a European record 17 consecutive league game victories (European football (soccer) club records#Most consecutive wins (Big 5 Leagues).5B1.5D.5B2.5D) stretching nearly half-a-year, a record of 4 consecutive Coppa Italia finals whilst becoming Inters most successful manager in 30 years, in the process transforming them into the dominant team in Italy. Despite domestic success, many see the repeated failure to win the coveted Champions League as the main reason for his sacking in 2008 by Inters hierarchy and was replaced by Jose Mourinho.

After over a year out of football he replaced Mark Hughes as Manchester City manager in December 2009. Known for his tactical nous, he maintains a tradition of wearing a scarf of his clubs colours, something which he has continued at Manchester City (Manchester City F.C.).
