The Ranchi University is a university in Jharkhand state of India. It was established in 1960. It is headquartered in Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand.
The university has a total student intake of around 90,000 students from its affiliated colleges. It has a central library with approximately 150,000 books for the academic needs of the students. There are a total of 2 male hostels and 4 female hostels in the university campus situated at Kutchery Road, Morabadi in Ranchi. The university is financially dependent on UGC (University Grants Commission (India)) funds (Rs. 38 crores annually) in addition to the fees paid by the students.
