The Philadelphia Flyers are a professional ice hockey team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are members of the Atlantic Division (Atlantic Division (NHL)) of the Eastern Conference (Eastern Conference (NHL)) of the National Hockey League (NHL) and are the current Eastern Conference Champions. Part of the 1967 NHL Expansion, the Flyers were the first non-Original Six team to win the Stanley Cup, victorious in 1973-74 (1974 Stanley Cup Finals) and again in 1974-75 (1975 Stanley Cup Finals).

The Flyers all-time winning percentage of .576 (as of the end of the 2009-10 season) is the second best in the NHL, behind only the Montreal Canadiens .591 winning percentage. Additionally, the Flyers have the most semifinal/conference final appearances out of all expansion teams (16; winning 8) and the most playoff appearances out of all expansion teams (35 out of 43 seasons).

The Flyers have played their home games on Broad Street (Broad Street (Philadelphia)) since their inception, first at The Spectrum (Wachovia Spectrum) from 1967 until 1996, and then at the Wachovia Center from 1996 to the present (known as the CoreStates Center from 1996 to 1998 and as the First Union Center from 1998 to 2003).

The Flyers have had rivalries (National Hockey League rivalries) with several teams over the years. Historically, their biggest rivals have been the New York Rangers, with whom the Flyers have had many brawls and playoff match-ups over the years; the New Jersey Devils, whom they faced four times in the playoffs since 1995, and with whom they traded the Atlantic Division title every season between 1995 and 2007; the New York Islanders, with whom the Flyers had overlapping great teams in the late 70s and early 80s, and their cross-state rivals the Pittsburgh Penguins.
