Peter James Crouch (born 30 January 1981) is an English international (England national football team) football (Association football)er who plays for Tottenham Hotspur (Tottenham Hotspur F.C.). At 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m), he is the tallest man (List of tallest people#Tallest in varied sports) ever to play for the England national team, and was the tallest outfield player in the Premier League until Stefan Maierhofer signed for Wolves (Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C.) in August 2009. Beginning his career as a trainee with Tottenham, Crouch has played for five Premier League clubs ? Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Southampton and Liverpool ? since the beginning of his career in 1998, before returning to Tottenham in 2009. Having represented England at under 21 (England national under-21 football team) level, he was called for the first time to the senior side in 2005 by Sven-G�ran Eriksson, and played at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. Crouch continued to be selected by subsequent England managers Steve McClaren and Fabio Capello. In 2006-07 (2006-07 UEFA Champions League), he was the second top scorer in the UEFA Champions League behind Kak�.
