Fortney Hillman "Pete" Stark, Jr. (born November 11, 1931) is an American politician (Politics of the United States) from the state (U.S. state) of California. A Democrat (Democratic Party (United States)), he has been a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (United States House of Representatives) since 1973 (37 years), currently representing Californias 13th congressional district in southwestern Alameda County. Currently he is the sixth (List of United States Representatives in the 111th Congress by seniority) most senior Representative as well as 8th most senior member of Congress.

The 13th district includes Alameda (Alameda, California), Union City (Union City, California), Hayward (Hayward, California), Newark (Newark, California), San Leandro and Fremont (Fremont, California), as well as parts of Oakland and Pleasanton (Pleasanton, California). Stark lives in Maryland, although he maintains a townhouse in Fremont, California.

Stark is the first, and so far only, openly atheist (Atheism) member of the United States Congress.
