Mitchell Elias "Mitch" Daniels, Jr. (born April 7, 1949) is the 49th and current (List of Governors of Indiana) Governor (Governor of Indiana) of the U.S. state of Indiana. A Republican (Republican Party (United States)), he began his four-year term as Indianas 49th Governor on January 10, 2005 and was elected to his second term by an 18-point margin on November 4, 2008. Previously he was the Director of the Office of Management and Budget under George W. Bush and also worked for Eli Lilly and Company. He is widely cited as a rising star within the Republican party and has approval ratings hovering near 70%.
