Marisa Tomei (IPA-enm??r?s? to??me?pron; born December 4, 1964) is an American stage (theatre), film and television actress. Tomei first came to prominence as a supporting cast member on The Cosby Show spinoff (television spin-off) A Different World (A Different World (TV series)) in 1987.
She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in My Cousin Vinny (1992). She received subsequent nominations for her performances in In the Bedroom (2001) and The Wrestler (The Wrestler (2008 film)) (2008).
Her most commercially successful films to date are What Women Want (2000), Anger Management (Anger Management (film)) (2003), and Wild Hogs (2007). She received critical acclaim for her performances in Unhook the Stars (1996), Before the Devil Knows Youre Dead (2007) and The Wrestler (The Wrestler (2008 film)) (2008).
