John Simon Bercow (pron-en?b??ko?; born 19 January 1963) is the Speaker (Speaker of the House of Commons (United Kingdom)) of the House of Commons (House of Commons of the United Kingdom) in the United Kingdom. He was first elected to this office in June 2009, until the dissolution of Parliament on 12 April 2010, and was re-elected on 18 May 2010. He has been the Member of Parliament for Buckingham (Buckingham (UK Parliament constituency)) since 1997. Until he became Speaker, he sat in the House as a member of the Conservative Party (Conservative Party (UK)). He served in the Shadow Cabinet under former Conservative leaders Iain Duncan Smith and Michael Howard.
