Ian Lancaster Fleming (28 May 1908 - 12 August 1964) was a British author and journalist. Fleming is best remembered for creating the character of James Bond and chronicling Bonds adventures in twelve novels and nine short stories. With over 100 million copies sold worldwide, the Bond novels are in the list of best-selling book series (List of best-selling books#At least 100 million copies) Additionally, Fleming wrote the childrens story Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (novel)) and two non-fiction books.
