Fisher Stevens (born November 27, 1963) is an American (United States) actor and Oscar-winning producer. He is perhaps better known for his portrayals of Chuck Fishman on Early Edition, Eugene "The Plague" Belford in Hackers (Hackers (film)), and Ben Jabituya/Jahrvi in Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2. His television credits include Frasier, Friends, Law & Order, Key West (Key West (TV series)), and Lost (Lost (TV series)). He recently appeared on two episodes of the TV show Numb3rs. He also played the part of murderer Alex Brady in the episode Columbo: Murder, Smoke and Shadows (Columbo (TV series)). He played Jigger Craigin in the 1994 Lincoln Center (Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts) revival of Rodgers and Hammersteins Carousel (Carousel (musical)). He had an early success in the 1982 Broadway production of Torch Song Trilogy playing David, the adopted son of the gay protagonist played by the shows writer Harvey Fierstein.
Stevens was born Steven Fisher in Chicago, Illinois. He started the Naked Angels Theater Company (Naked Angels (theater company)) with longtime friend Ned Eisenberg in 1987. He also owns a film production company called GreeneStreet Films, located in Tribeca, New York City. Stevens performed as Edgar Allan Poe on Lou Reeds album The Raven (The Raven (Lou Reed album)) in 2003. At one time during the late 1980s, Stevens dated actress Michelle Pfeiffer.
On November 3, 2009, it was announced that Stevens will join the cast of Ugly Betty in the potentially recurring role of Mr. Z.
In 2010, Stevens won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for co-producing The Cove (The Cove (film)).
