Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor (born 26 February 1984) is a Togolese professional footballer (Association football) who plays as a striker for Manchester City (Manchester City F.C.) in the Premier League. He played in the same position for the Togo national team (Togo national football team) before he announced his retirement from international football on 12 April 2010. Adebayor previously played for Metz (FC Metz), AS Monaco (AS Monaco FC) and Arsenal (Arsenal F.C.), and was voted African Footballer of the Year for 2008. In January 2010, Adebayor was one of the players involved when the Togo national teams bus came under a gunfire attack (Togo national football team bus attack) on the way to the African Cup of Nations in Angola.
