Elena Viatcheslavovna Dementieva (lang-ru????? ???????????? ??????????, IPA-ruj??l?en? d???m?ent?j?v?Elena_dementieva.ogg; born 15 October 1981) is a Russian professional tennis player. She has won two Olympic (Olympic Games) medals in singles, including the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing (Tennis at the 2008 Summer Olympics). She has also reached the finals of the 2004 French Open and 2004 US Open (2004 US Open (tennis)). Her career high ranking was World No. 3 which she achieved on April 6, 2009. As of 14 June 2010, her ranking is World No.5, making her the current Russian No.1.
