Disney Channel is an American (United States) basic cable and satellite television network (TV network), owned by the Disney-ABC Television Group division of The Walt Disney Company with its headquarters located on West Alameda Ave. in Burbank, California. Disney Channels Worldwide, which handles the operations of the U.S. and international versions of the Channel, Disney XD and the European premium channel Disney Cinemagic, is currently run by Disney-ABC Television Group co-chairpersons Anne Sweeney and Rich Ross.
The channel specializes in programming for children through original series and movies, as well as third-party programming. It is marketed to mostly children ages 6-12, with the exception of their weekend primetime block that is aimed at pre-teens and teenagers ages 9-14, and the Playhouse Disney programming block that is aimed at children ages 2-5; however, in recent years the diversity of viewers has increased with an older audience, typically teenagers and young families.
