David Mikel Tyree (born January 3, 1980, in city-stateLivingstonNew Jersey) is an American football wide receiver and special teams player who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the New York Giants in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played college football at Syracuse (Syracuse Orange football).

He is best known for his helmet catch (Eli Manning pass to David Tyree) on the Giants final drive of Super Bowl XLII in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter, that was instrumental to the Giants last-second touchdown and a 17-14 victory over the previously undefeated New England Patriots. In the play, Eli Manning got away from four sacks and threw an overthrown hail mary which Tyree caught on top of his helmet on a backwards dive, before he held on to the ball inches above the ground to complete the catch.
