Daniel Wroughton Craig (born 2 March 1968) is an English (England) actor and film producer. His early film roles included Elizabeth (Elizabeth (film)), in which he played a monk who attempts to assassinate Queen Elizabeth (Cate Blanchett). He starred in The Power of One (The Power of One (film)), A Kid in King Arthurs Court and the television episodes Sharpes Eagle (Sharpes Eagle (TV programme)), Zorro (Zorro (1990 TV series)) and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles: Daredevils of the Desert (The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles). He went on to star in his breakthrough performances Layer Cake (Layer Cake (film)), Road to Perdition, The Golden Compass (The Golden Compass (film)) and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

Craig became a household name when he was cast as the sixth actor to portray the fictional secret agent James Bond (James Bond (character)) in the long-running Eon Productions film series (James Bond film series). He made his d�but as the character in the 2006 film, Casino Royale (Casino Royale (2006 film)), to critical acclaim, and was nominated for a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) award.
