Connie Hedegaard (born September 15, 1960) is a Danish politician and public intellectual who has been European Commissioner for Climate Action (European Climate Change Programme) in the (second Barroso (Barroso Commission#Second college)) European Commission since 10 February 2010.
On behalf of Denmark, she hosted the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009 (United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009). She was Danish Minister for Climate and Energy (Danish Ministry of Climate and Energy) from November 23, 2007 as a member of the Cabinet of Anders Fogh Rasmussen III and that of Lars L�kke Rasmussen (Cabinet of Lars L�kke Rasmussen) and had been the Danish (Denmark) Minister for the Environment (Minister for the Environment (Denmark)) from August 2, 2004 to November 23, 2007, as a member of the Cabinet of Anders Fogh Rasmussen I and II (Cabinet of Anders Fogh Rasmussen II).
In Denmark, she was a member of the Conservative Peoples Party (Conservative Peoples Party (Denmark)) (DKF), and was a member of parliament (Folketing) from January 10, 1984 to October 3, 1990. She was also elected a member of the Folketing in the 2005 Danish parliamentary election. Prior to becoming a minister, she worked as a journalist at DR (DR (broadcaster)), the Danish national broadcaster.
