Charles Bartholomew "Chuck" Bass is a fictional character in the Gossip Girl series of teen novels and the television series of the same name (Gossip Girl (TV series)). In the latter, he is portrayed by English (England) actor Ed Westwick. Although he is a secondary, antagonistic character in the original book series, in the television series Chuck is one of the main characters, serving as the shows antihero. The television series character is noted for his financial ambition and personal style. He has been best friends with Nate Archibald (Nate Archibald (Gossip Girl)), Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen since they were children. He is now the stepbrother of Serena van der Woodsen and the (on/off) boyfriend of Blair Waldorf.
