Chrome Web Store is an online store for web applications, owned by Google. It was announced at the Google I/O conference on May 19, 2010 by Vic Gundotra. The software allows users to install and run web applications unique to Google Chrome, executed from convenient shortcuts. The applications, which are written in the markup language used for the World Wide Web, HTML, will also be able to use code native to the Chrome web browser. The store will host both free and paid applications. Examples of applications that have been shown to be available in the Chrome Web Store include the game Plants vs. Zombies. The Store has been compared to Apple Inc.s App Store and Googles own Android Market.
