Christopher Robert Pronger (born October 10, 1974) is a Canadian (Canada) professional ice hockey defenceman (defenceman (ice hockey)) for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He is an alternate captain (Captain (ice hockey)#Alternate captains) for the Flyers during away games (Road (sports)). Pronger was originally selected 2nd overall by the Hartford Whalers in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft and played for them from 1993 (1993-94 NHL season)-95 (1994-95 NHL season), followed by the St. Louis Blues (St. Louis Blues (hockey)) (from 1995 (1995-96 NHL season)-2004 (2003-04 NHL season)), the Edmonton Oilers (from 2005-06 (2005-06 NHL season)), and the Anaheim Ducks from 2006 (2006-07 NHL season)-2009 (2008-09 NHL season)). He won the Hart Trophy (Hart Memorial Trophy) as the leagues most valuable player in the 1999-2000 season (1999-00 NHL season) and was the first defenceman to win the award since Bobby Orr in 1972 (1971-72 NHL season). He was also the cover athlete for NHL Hitz 20-03 and EA Sports NHL 2000 while with the St. Louis Blues.
