(also known as the Municipal Corporation of Chennai), formerly known as Madras Corporation, is the civic body that governs the city of Chennai (Madras), India.The Chennai Corporation is the oldest municipal body of the Commonwealth of Nations outside the United Kingdom and the oldest corporation in India. It is headed by a mayor, who presides over 155 councillors each of whom represents one of the 155 wards of the city (List of Chennai Corporation wards).
