Byron Leslie Dorgan (born May 14, 1942) is the junior United States Senator (United States Senate) from North Dakota. He is a member of the North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party, the North Dakota affiliate of the Democratic Party (Democratic Party (United States)). In the Senate, he is Chairman of the Democratic Policy Committee (Democratic Policy Committee Chairman of the United States Senate) and Chairman of the Committee on Indian Affairs (United States Senate Committee on Indian Affairs). Dorgan announced on January 5, 2010 that he would not seek re-election in the 2010 North Dakota senate election (United States Senate election in North Dakota, 2010).
