Brian Christopher Rafalski (born September 28, 1973, in Dearborn (Dearborn, Michigan), Michigan) is an American (United States) professional ice hockey defenseman for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL) and an alternate captain (Captain (ice hockey)#Alternate captains) of the US Olympic Team (United States mens national ice hockey team) for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Prior to joining the Red Wings, Rafalski played seven seasons with the New Jersey Devils. After struggling to enter the NHL, Rafalski has won the Stanley Cup three times and become an effective defenseman in the league. In his nine seasons in the league, he has played in five Stanley Cup finals (2000 (2000 Stanley Cup Playoffs), 2001 (2001 Stanley Cup Playoffs), 2003 (2003 Stanley Cup Playoffs), 2008 (2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs), 2009 (2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs)).
