Amy Schumer (born June 1, 1981) is an American (United States) stand-up comedian originally from Long Island, New York. She placed 4th on NBCs Last Comic Standing Season 5. Amy also placed 2nd on Comedy Centrals Reality Bites Back.

As a child, Schumer would make up her own characters, such as Madame Lavitsky, a fortune teller. In high school, Schumer participated in theatre and even played Gretl in "The Sound of Music" and performing as Molly in "Annie (Annie (musical))". She also played volleyball. In her senior year, Schumer was voted both "Class Clown" and "Teachers Worst Nightmare". Schumer graduated from South Side High School (South Side High School (Rockville Centre, New York)) in 1999. Schumer received a BA in theatre at Towson University. She also graduated from the William Esper Studio.

After college, Schumer moved to New York City to become an actress. She tended bar and waited tables while auditioning for various roles. At one point, Schumer portrayed a young woman diagnosed with breast cancer in the off-Broadway Show Keeping A Breast. Amy started doing stand-up comedy on June 1, 2004, where she first performed at Gotham Comedy Club.

Amys favorite comedians are Louis CK, Bill Burr, Dave Attell, Jim Norton, Wendy Liebman, Sarah Silverman, Margaret Cho, and Ellen DeGeneres. She is also a New York Mets fan.

On 22 February 2008, Amy was the guest co-host on the XM radio show (XM Satellite Radio) "The Black Phillip Show", hosted by New York comedian Patrice Oneal.

On 17 March 2010, Schumer made an appearance on the Opie and Anthony show. She is a frequent guest on Fox News late-night program Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld.

She was the first female comic to perform Stand-up on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and the Ellen Degeneres Show.

Her first Comedy Central Presents special aired on April 2nd, 2010 at 11:30 PM EST.

On 3 June 2010, Amy was a guest co-host on the "Jim Norton Norton show on XM radio show (XM Satellite Radio) Channel Raw Dog XM 150.
