Alan Yentob (born 11 March 1947) is a British television executive, given the nickname Botney (Yentob spelled backwards) by the magazine Private Eye. He was born into a Jewish family of Iraqi descent in London, and was educated at the independent The Kings School, Ely and Leeds University. After initially joining the BBC as a trainee in the BBC World Service in 1968, he has spent his entire professional career with the Corporation. Yentob has two children, Isabella and Jacob.
